Job Description

Twin English Centre Dublin (formerly Alpha College of English) was founded in 1989 as an executive training centre to provide high level management and technical courses in English to non native-English speakers. We are fully recognised by the Irish department of Education, members of MEI and accredited by ACELS.  We are also members of EAQUALS, one of the most prestigious quality marks in the International Language Travel industry.

We are looking for Senior Teachers  to Teach English as a foreign language using the communicative method; build confidence in using and understanding English in and outside the classroom by integrating language learning with the social programme; supervise students to ensure their safety and welfare. also the organisation and implementation of the academic programme; management of the teaching staff; assisting the Centre Manager in the day-to-day running of the Centre; maintaining proper levels of student safety, discipline and welfare.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Teaching a minimum of 15 hours per week (AM Only)
  • Carefully planning course book- and project-based lessons following the prescribed syllabus
  • Incorporating excursion lessons and excursion-based projects into lessons
  • Delivering student induction, including classroom evacuation practice
  • Recording students’ attendance on the class register and reporting absences of students no later than the first break
  • Monitoring students’ progress using the weekly checklist
  • Writing academic reports and assisting in certificate completion
  • Preparing and planning activities and excursions in advance
  • Being familiar and completing risk assessments including any extra risks for individual students
  • Implementing Health & Safety standards/procedures for each lesson/ tour/activity/event
  • Reporting accidents/ incidents to the Centre Manager and completing necessary documentation

Administrative

  • Ensuring customer satisfaction with the academic programme
  • Setting up and daily maintenance of academic notice boards
  • Student testing and induction
  • Placing students in appropriate classes, creating class lists and registers, including conversation club registers
  • Scheduling of classes and teachers
  • Ensuring the syllabus is followed and suitable supplementary materials are used
  • Providing assistance with lesson planning, particularly for recently qualified teachers
  • Running teacher and staff meetings, and keeping meeting minutes
  • Managing teachers’ performance, including delivering appraisals
  • Assisting the Centre Manager as required and deputising in case of absence
  • Working with the Class database
  • Liaising with Group Leaders regarding curriculum, observations etc.
  • Ensuring academic reports and certificates are completed
  • Organising a weekly leavers’ ceremony
  • Ensuring all students and Group Leaders complete and return feedback forms
  • Recording and managing day-to-day issues as they arise and applying sensible solutions
  • Ensuring high levels of student safety and welfare, including risk assessing classrooms and outside learning environments
  • Ensuring that measures are put into place for students with special educational needs or disabilities
  • Any other reasonable/appropriate duties

Essential requirements:

  • At least three years full time teaching experience with a large proportion of it being with young learners
  • Experience working in a fast paced and high-pressure environment
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • IT literate

Desirable, but not essential:

 

  • Summer school experience
  • Previous managerial experience
  • Administrative experience
  • Safeguarding training
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to speak a second language

Homestay Summer Centre at St Tiernan's Community School, Ballaly, Dublin 16

Position: Part Time

Dates: Contracts from 1-5 Weeks (Centre runs from Sunday 26th June 2022 – Sunday 31st July 2022) 

Rates: €520.00 per week

*Inclusive of 8% Holiday Pay

**Based on EFL experience and summer centre experience.

*** 15 hours of teaching work (AM) per week.

*** Up to 10 hours of academic administrative per week.
