What is a 1+ 1 Masters programme?

A 1+1 Masters programme is a 2-year masters that includes 1 year of taught modules, and 1 year of placement in industry as part of their overall Masters Degree.

Like a “sandwich year” for undergraduates, a Masters Industry Practice year is a 1-year placement that is undertaken in year 2 of the degree, after students have passed their taught modules. The placement year is an integrated and assessed part of the course with close monitoring and support from the University and Twin throughout.

The benefit to UK employers is that that Masters level students can be hired again directly after their placement according to their work permission.

How we work with university students

We prepare university students with personalised, industry specific, employability skills that will improve their employability prospects for placements and all future roles after graduation. 

Employability Skills and Workshops
We prepare cohorts of students with industry specific employability skills and guides. Students learn what roles are available in their sector and how to seek and secure opportunities in the workplace according to the faculty or courses supported.

Personalised employability skills and CV preparation. 
Through 1 to 1 personalised sessions, Twin ensures that students communicate their knowledge, experience, soft skills, and transferable skills effectively to employers. We prepare SMART career goals and strategy plans, so they are well informed, confidant and career ready on graduating.

By collaborating closely with employers to find suitable candidates for their roles, we also forge relationships by sharing CSR opportunities, and sharing regular industry insight and trends with Faculties.  Twin provides employers a recruitment pipeline that extends beyond placements, giving employers access to a pool of skilled, and often experienced candidates for placement years and beyond.
