Job Description

An experienced vocational tutor to deliver regulated and non-regulated qualifications/training to our learners on our employability programmes. The delivery schedule is driven by our learner’s location and skills need; this will include those that are looking for a new career or progression within their working environment.

Courses are delivered in a classroom setting and online using various digital media and require excellent learner management skills to progress and support each learner. This role will require the tutor to be centre-based and may require travel within the West Midlands. The role requires an organised professional with the ability to adapt to new environments, use a multitude of needs to be resourceful and able to work in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for tutors who have delivered vocational courses in various sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare lessons efficiently in order to conduct them competently.
  • Deliver and assess accredited and non-accredited qualifications according to the delivery schedule.
  • Deliver courses in the classroom and online using a range of programmes including Microsoft Teams, incorporating technology such as tablets and smartphones into your teaching and using interactive online resources enabling the learner to develop their skills.
  • Set and assess learner work product daily, ensuring feedback is provided in a timely manner.
  • Complete remedial actions identified by the IV promptly to ensure learner achievement performance is included in the given month.

  • Create schemes of work and lesson plans in accordance with the qualification specifications.
  • Prepare educational material to assist with stretching and challenging the learning.
  • Abide by the copyright rules and always source material before photocopying.
  • Be prepared to deliver and assess a suite of work skills specialist programmes as required.
  • Manage the class effectively and challenge learners on attendance and punctuality in line with the policy.
  • Regularly report back to HQ, the attendance records throughout the course.
  • Substitute for other Trainers / Advisors in case of their absence, as mutually agreed with the Team Leader and/or Manager.
  • Be involved in Twin’s observation programme across all provisions.
  • Be involved in standardisation meetings.
  • Always represent Twin in a professional manner at all sites and any travel in between.
  • Liaise regularly with Advisors on learners’ readiness for progression into employment, and provide handover information to new or substitute trainers.
  • Adhere to the tidy desk policy following all display screen assessment guidance and be responsible for the equipment provided.
Education /Qualification 
  • Assessing qualification, TAQA, A1, or equivalent - Desirable
  • PTTLS, DTTLS or equivalent – Essential
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Mathematics and English or equivalent – Essential
  • Subject specialism in vocational courses – Essential

Skills and Experience
  •  Experience in delivering to post 16 – Essential Knowledge/Experience required Principal Accountabilities Human Resources FORM HR JDT 01 2021 The company reserves the right to vary or amend the functions and responsibilities of the post holder according to the needs of the Company’s business.
  • Experience in delivering functional skills - Essential
  • Experience in delivering Employability/Vocational qualifications – Essential.
  • Knowledge of Awarding Organisations; Edexcel, NCFE, C&G qualifications - Desirable
  • Experience of the welfare-to-work sector - Desirable.
  • Experience of working within a business context – Desirable
  • Experience in embedding British Values, PREVENT and safeguarding into lessons – Essential.
Additional Information
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Birmingham with travel to Wolverhampton and Coventry  
Contract:  Permanent - Full Time
Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:30
