We are proud that our summer centres run from 4 to 6 weeks per annum, our students, who are under the age of 18*, come from all over the world, typically staying for 13 nights where they complete a 30-hour English Language Course along with activities on-site, half-day and full day excursions, and evening activities.

Twin Summer Centres are offering residential full-board and non-residential summer contracts at 8 different UK locations; Canterbury, London Docklands, London Greenwich, Nottingham, Crowthorne, Lincoln, Gloucester and Norwich.

The Activity Leader role is an exciting position at one of our fast-paced Twin Summer Centres across the UK and Ireland. You will lead activities and walking tours for groups of young learners from various cultural backgrounds. This a suitable role for physically active individuals who particularly enjoy participating in indoor and outdoor activities.

One day you will perform as a tour guide, one day as a quiz master and another day you will take on the role of a fashion show presenter. The Activity Leader role is a crucial position in enhancing young learners’ experience in the UK. You will be the first point of contact with our young learners during their stay. Our Activity and Excursion Programme runs from breakfast to lights out and it is designed for international students under the age of 18*.

You will be fully trained and supported by our experienced Summer Centres Head Office Team, reporting to the Activity Manager on site, delivering an engaging and successful Activity and Excursion Programme. The role of Activity Leader is the perfect opportunity to gain some group-leading experience within an international setting. You will use your initiative, creativity, and teamwork skills to deliver a stimulating, action-packed programme to our customers from all over the world.

*Some centres may include international high school students who turn 18 before they arrive at the summer centre, there will be appropriate provision and safeguarding measures in place to accommodate them on which you will be fully trained.

Responsibilities

Pre-Contract:
- Responsible to fully read and understand the job description and job offer before committing to the role.
- Ready and fully understand Activity Leader Handbook. This provides a more comprehensive overview of all of your responsibilities which you should adhere to.
- Attend any training (online or in person) held by the company.
- Complete the Safeguarding and Prevent online courses. The link is provided in the job offer.

During Contract:
- Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all students on site in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy.
- Supervision of students at any time as per rota.
- Leading and delivering all activities, walking tours and excursions on time and in a highly exciting and engaging manner.
- Take responsibility of at least 15 students on excursions and based on NSPCC guidelines. Lower numbers should only get approved by the Activity Manager.
- Live on-site for the duration of the contract on a 6 day per week rotation.
- Attending all activity briefings and staff meetings.
- Fully comply with any last-minute changes of the Activity and Excursion schedule and plans.
- Preparing for student arrivals and departures including meeting and greeting students at the airport.
- Fully read and understand all Activity Plans and Walking Tours prior to each activity and plan/research activities and walking tours when necessary.
- Actively promote the Activity Programme maintaining and ensuring the inclusion and participation of all students.
- Ensuring all activity equipment are returned after each activity, reporting any damages to the Activity Manager.
- Preparing the activity venue prior to the activities when necessary.
- Keeping student registers safe and bringing them back after each activity or excursion.
- Fully read and understand ALL risk assessments and add any extra risks for individual students.
- Promote the use of English amongst students at all times.
- Wearing the Twin uniform at all times whilst on duty and actively ensuring all students are wearing lanyards at all times. Dress appropriately at ANY time on campus.
- Maintain and promote positive student behaviour while maintaining a professional manner at all times.
- Participating in weekly activity leader development sessions.
- Participating in formal and informal observations of activity sessions.
- Comply with health and safety at all times.
- Report to the on-site Activity Manager when there are any issues regarding staff, students or personal such as worked hours, timesheets etc by no later than 5 days.
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required by the company. · Supervise mealtimes when required.
- Maintain a good name and reputation of Twin at all times.
- When a second language is spoken, interpret for the group leaders or students any important information as advised by the management team.

Post Contract:
- Complete appraisals and end-of-contract feedback.

Education /Qualification 
A level or equivalent. 


Skills and Experience

Desirable, but not essential:
- First Aid Certificate completed within the last three years.
- Experience of working with under 18s.
- Educated to degree level or currently working towards a degree in education, sports science, dance, drama, or any other related qualification.
- Safeguarding training.
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to speak a second language.
- Experience working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Sports coaching qualifications.

Please note, that having the above skills/qualifications will certainly help in securing a role, but it will not affect the salary range.

Additional Information
Salary: £530.00 - £660.00 per week in the UK, plus accrued holiday pay of 12.07% in the UK depending on the size of the centre. Centre sizes depend on the average number of students per week: Small Centre, 100; Medium Centre, 250; Large Centre, over 250. Each week includes 1 day off.
