As an organisation we are recruiting for a new Trainer/Assessor as part of the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Practitioner Project to deliver Level 3 ESOL courses and associated coaching, support, tutorials, monitoring, evaluation and program compliance activities. The role will lead on the delivery of training to volunteers across London. The outreach part will involve generating leads to join the program and completing signup paperwork with learner.

The delivery schedule is driven by our learner’s geographical locations; this role requires travel to all of Twin sites across London and alternative sites that are hired to deliver the qualifications. Due to this, lone working will be required. The role requires an organised professional with the ability to adapt to new environments, needs to be resourceful and able to work in a face paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering the programme in a timely manner, supporting learners through their learning journey with Twin.
  • Implementing strategies to achieve targets related to participants’ learning outcomes.
  • Creating and following programme layout and complying with specifications and guidelines
  • Preparing lessons and preparing/adapting materials as required
  • Keeping track of and maintaining records of participants’ attendance, participation and progress
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting participants’ progress in key learning areas.
  • Complete course related administrative tasks to specified standards
  • Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with British Council standards and policy for child protection
  • Ensuring the course is inclusive and also focuses on the ESOL learner’s needs
  • Integrating and delivering training with a focus on literacy and digital skills
  • Coaching, tutoring and offering learning support to learners
  • Collecting a baseline needs assessment for learners,
  • Managing the induction process, 
  • Conducting classroom and training observations, interviews and focus groups with learners and project stakeholders;
  • Organising any external assistance or support as necessary
  • Responsible for contributing to achieving a monthly target for referring learners on to the ESOL Practitioners Course,
  • Willing to undertake business development and recruitment of referral sources as well as learners
  • Recruitment of learners onto courses to meet agreed programme targets, in accordance with eligibility requirements 
  • Take ownership for all referral source engagement activities associated with learner recruitment, including identifying and mitigating risks
  • Work to fully understand each course, its target learners (eligibility), aims, targets, deliverables, geography, and payment systems
  • Develop relationships with a broad portfolio of referral sources, for example, 3rd sector, education sector and other commercial providers, being very aware of both immediate transactions and potential partnerships 
  • Implement ongoing contact schedules (planned in advance where possible) for maximum scheduling efficiency, to ensure adequate coverage of relevant referral sources
  • Ensure full and accurate record keeping of all client and referral sources 

 

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • DELTA , or other Level 7 English Language teaching qualification (with observed teaching practice – minimum 7.5 hours) - essential
  • At least two years of English Language teaching experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a business context
  • Experience of teaching ESOL
  • Experience of delivering teacher training and webinars 
  • Experience of using British Council teacher development materials

 

Additional Information

Salary: £26,000 - £27,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location:  London

Hours: 37.5 hrs/week (Full time) Monday- Friday
