Job Description

JOB TITLE:                              Careers Advisor – CXK (Level 3 IAG Qualified)      

SALARY:                                 £26,000pa - £28,000 (Dependant on experience)   

CONTRACT:                            Fixed term to 31/03/2024

HOURS:                                  0.6 FTE – 1.0 FTE 

LOCATION:                            Newhaven, East Sussex        

REPORTS TO:                        Contracts Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR:             No Staff Management  

LEVEL:                                    Experienced

You will work with under the guidance of your Contracts Manager and your regional team colleagues to manage referrals for the CXK programme and support jobseekers with employment and further education outcomes. You will ensure that appropriate activity is undertaken with each customer to achieve their goals and aspirations, including enrolment onto suitable skills courses and a follow-up of their journey/progression route. This will include eligibility checks, enrolling learners onto programme, working with the Employer Engagement and regional team sourcing appropriate vacancies. You will be responsible for outreach and employment advice for your caseload.

  • Build close relationships with our allocated Jobcentre plus (Newhaven JCP) and hold a desk in the centre once a week to receive referrals for the CXK contract.
  • Establish rapport and build a challenging and supportive relationship with your caseload and across the relevant contracts ;
  • Manage a caseload of customers to ensure appropriate and effective contractual activity is undertaken by all customers according to their level of job readiness;
  • Address customer’s personal and contextual constraints to employment, implementing action plans, providing, advice and guidance where appropriate to develop customer’s capability in the recruitment process so they have the skills and confidence to secure employment.
  • Follow the compliance regulations for the relevant contract you are working on, to ensure that the customer meets all the necessary eligibility criteria and paperwork is completed in full and accurately.
  • Identify, structure and recommend recruitment and training solutions, to meet the specific needs of customers and employers;
  • Provide advice, guidance and support for customers during their initial weeks of employment, supporting them in the transition from welfare to employment;
  • Develop relationships and networks with key stakeholders including employers, jobcentre teams, local authorities, and training providers to ensure the smooth operation of all processes
  • Maintain paperwork and customer records to a required quality standard to ensure the customer journey is documented in accordance with our quality standards and relevant documentation upload to database from claim purposes
  • Assist with all other areas of delivery in your region as and when required
  • Attend team meetings and training at either Eastbourne HQ or London HQ on a regular basis

Knowledge/experience – Essential and Desired

Essential

  • Experience in delivering IAG to unemployed individuals  
  • Experienced and confident in delivering against targets and KPI’s
  • Understanding the needs of long-term unemployed and recruitment needs
  • Knowledge of the barriers to employment for our demographic of learners, and you can assist them in overcoming barriers and build confidence 

Desirable

  • Experience in working on a CXK contract
  • Experience of using Yeti (CRM system)

  • Level 3+ IAG Qualification

Desirable

  • Level 4+ IAG Qualification

  • Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.
