NCS (National Citizen Service) is a government-backed initiative with a mission to equip 15-17 year olds with the confidence, skills and support they need to make a real difference in their communities. The aim is to encourage young people from different backgrounds to mix through a local, community-based programme.
Twin offers a fixed-term contract and aims to provide longer employment consisting of a few waves. This is however, subject to the performance on the programme and young people numbers. For more details about our programme please click here.

About the role
Come and work for Twin, a delivery partner of NCS, as a Support Worker. You will Inspire and assist individual young people with additional needs throughout the whole of their Non-residential NCS (National Citizen Service) programme. Identify, and find solutions, to barriers preventing a young person from fully engaging with the programme and support them to integrate into a team; helping to deliver a safe, high quality, inclusive and accessible NCS programme for all. Support workers should be creative, compassionate, motivated and confident with a genuine passion for ensuring that all young people are able to access our NCS programme.
You will be expected to act as a role model, encouraging young people to develop inclusive and positive behaviour towards others.
Key Responsibilities
Provide support to a young person on a 1-1 or 1-2 basis with additional or high support needs throughout their entire NCS journey. These needs may include learning & engagement, mental health, physical disabilities (including moving and handling of YP), personal care (including hygiene and toileting), and administering medication
Complete and maintain the young person’s records e.g. MAR (Medical Administration Report) or PEEP (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan) including support plan
Schedule and conduct face-to-face or virtual visits with young people and parent/guardian pre-programme to discuss and formulate their support plan
Liaise and work closely with the Assistant and Team Leader, especially when preparing and planning activities, ensuring you make the necessary adjustments for the young person and advocate for their right to inclusion
Implement Health and Safety standards/procedures for each activity/event (including COVID-19 guidance) and ensuring that young people are following all safety guidance throughout
Adhere to and actively ensure all policies and procedures are followed, and manage individuals who may not be following these, especially regarding safeguarding, GDPR, consent, confidentiality, information sharing and data storage
Manage any incidents as they occur, ensuring the safety of others and reporting all incidents to the Wave Leader, completing any necessary documentation
Set and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with young people in your care, and maintain adequate levels of participant discipline
Represent NCS goals and values effectively with stakeholders (such as partnering charities).
Supervise participants during mealtimes, breaks and free time
Attend staff meetings and training events, including first aid course, and complete NCS online modules as required

Knowledge of disability legislation and best practice; Child Protection legislation, policy and guidance; Children in Care legislation; and Safeguarding children and young people policy
This role is perfect for an experienced professional with a background in the education or youth work sector.
