Job Description

The Turing Scheme is a UK-wide programme that provides funding for international placements across the world.  Successful candidates get opportunities to develop skills, boost confidence levels, and improve employability prospects. For all placements, we require previous experience or a qualification in the chosen sector. Whilst participants will work within a team, supervised by a company mentor, and it is essential that a host company can see that you already have some skills to offer them from your application.

The Departures to Bordeaux, Marseille are on 2nd October and the return date is 11th December 2022 with pre-departure training between 19th and 23rd September or 26th and 30th September.

 

Tasks:

Depending on your employer and the type of role you apply for, you may work across several areas or specialise in a few, and your responsibilities could include:

  • Providing office support, including customer and employee support
  • Keeping well-organised files and records of business activity
  • Researching company data and archived reports
  • Maintaining computer databases up to date
  • Interacting with clients either on the phone or in-person
  • Answering phones and connecting calls to the proper department
  • Taking phone messages and passing them on
  • Following up on business communications, billing, and ordering
  • Communicating with materials suppliers and vendors
  • Invoicing
  • Using spreadsheets to track expenses and company spending
  • Collecting and inputting company data
  • Preparing documents by printing, copying, and binding
  • Writing and editing company correspondence
  • Assisting with minor technical support
  • Acting as a personal assistant to the executive team
  • Scheduling appointments and events
  • Ordering office stationery and other supplies

Eligibility Criteria:

You don't have to be a graduate to join the programme because if you can show experience or any relevant qualification in either of the sectors available – you're eligible.

But, before rushing to apply to this life-changing opportunity, check if you are eligible:

  • You are aged 18+ on departure.
  • You have a permanent UK address and UK work rights.
  • You are not a national citizen of the destination country.
  • You have a valid UK (or EU) passport with more than six months validity after your return date.
  • You can commit to the entire programme duration, 70 days/10 weeks
  • You are educated to GCSE level or equivalent and have a minimum of 5 GCSEs
  • If you are still at uni and looking for a year in industry placement, you are not eligible
