Job Description

As an organisation we are recruiting for a new NCS Programme Coordinator .

You will be working alongside your NCS colleagues and support the Programme Manager to ensure the successful implementation and delivery of the NCS programme across all three service lines:

1. NCS Programmes – ensuring the smooth set-up and delivery of NCS residential programmes, in Summer and Autumn seasons

2. NCS Skillsbooster – 15 hours of workshop delivery within schools/colleges (run during term time)

3. NCS Changemakers – 5 hours of monthly delivery themed around longer-term social action projects (not run during summer delivery period)

The roles and responsibilities will shift as the year progresses. This could be sourcing venues and venue management, building relationships with community partners, amending session plans and risk assessments, seasonal staff training and ensuring all young person spaces on your programmes are filled, with participants excited and well prepared to engage.

This role will suit a self-starting youth worker who would enjoy a varied and challenging role that is extremely rewarding

This role will involve regular evening and some weekend working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the successful set up and delivery of the NCS programme
  • Plan interactive, inclusive and youth-led sessions for both Skills Booster and NCS programmes.
  • Risk-assess all activities and create appropriate templates for staff use
  • Assist in pre-booking all facilities, services and equipment needed for the sessions
  • Conduct venue visits to ensure the suitability of the facilities for the programme
  • Assist in recruiting and training NCS seasonal staff
  • Assist in the reviewing, writing and updating of policies, procedures, and handbooks
  • Ensure local business, charity and community relationships are developed and maintained

Seasonal Responsibilities (May-August, October-November)

  • Working with wider NCS team to ensure all NCS programmes you oversee are full (this may include leading on retention events)
  • Support in ensuring that all YP and parents/guardians are contacted prior to programme delivery and are fully prepared and excited to undertake the opportunity
  • Assist in organizing the rooming of young people in residential centres
  • Ensure Salesforce is always up to date for your programmes (and any activity, registers, logs, pre and post programme documentation are up to date and clear)
  • Visit the centres on a regular basis to quality check delivery and be an effective point of contact to seasonal staff and young people.
  • Support seasonal staff when dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Management of wave leaders and ensuring they are supported and have the resources they need to succeed.
  • Manage staff’s performance, including appraisals
  • Ensure all matters relating to inclusion and safeguarding are acted on swiftly and appropriately (Including acting as a designated safeguarding officer)
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards/procedures are implemented for each activity/event (including risk assessments)
  • Take on the role of first-aider
  • Any other reasonable/appropriate duties

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Educated to A level or equivalent
  • Experience of working on the implementation and delivery of small-scale projects
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, youth engagement and leadership skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Desirable

  • Full understanding and working knowledge of NCS
  • Experience of direct delivery of the NCS Programme
  • Youthwork background
  • Experience of people management

Additional Information

Salary: £25,000 - £26,000 per annum
Location: London

Hours: 42.5 hrs Full time/ Monday- Friday
Contract : Full Time/Fixed Term (4-6 mths)
