Job Description

Our Facilities Manager will enhance the reputation of Twin Eastbourne through ensuring the school is safe, welcoming, and clean environment for all staff, students and clients.

Responsibilities

Building and Grounds

  • Improving Twin building and grounds.
  • Planning all future works in liaison with the Director and Centre Manager, working on a continued program of repair and decoration.
  • Overseeing maintenance through contact with staff, stakeholders, including checking the maintenance books daily.
  • Dealing with day-to-day issues quickly and effectively.
  • Working with stakeholders / external contractors on building works.
  • Liaising with the estate office.
  • Obtaining suitable estimates and invoices from contractors.
  • Ensuring all present on the premises are suitably supervised and follow Health and Safety rules and procedures.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the gardens.
  • Classroom and bedroom maintenance, including the ordering of and moving furniture as appropriate.
  • Maintaining, cleaning, and maintenance of the common areas.
  • Performing minor repairs as required.
  • Meter reading and recording monthly.
  • Available for emergency calls as required.

Health & Safety

  • Risk assessment of all Twin buildings and grounds maintaining regular updates.
  • Attend Health & Safety meetings and deal with the relevant action points.
  • Responsibility for the overall security of the building including the opening and securing Twin building, ensuring residential accommodation for young learners is kept totally secure.
  • Responsible for pest control.
  • Ensure all school signage is appropriately placed, maintained and up to date.
  • Legionella and temperature testing and recording.

Fire

  • Act as a fire warden and induct new staff members in fire procedures.
  • Ensure all fire alarms and fire equipment are effective and recorded.
  • Contacting the emergency services and alarm company as required.
  • Conducting regular fire testing, conducting drill day and evening and recording.
  • Ensure and maintain all fire signage throughout, ensuring up to date.

Personal Development

  • Attending internal and external meetings and workshops as necessary to improve performance and ensure information is up to date.

First Aid

  • Regular First Aid training
  • Maintaining and recording of the first aid boxes

Housekeeping Team

  • Supervision of the housekeeping and maintenance team.
  • Development of staff to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
  • Develop the housekeeping team through assessment and training.
  • Maintain accurate staff records of hours worked, holidays and sickness.

Residential

  • Meeting and assisting with residential groups as required.
  • Finance and HR
  • Liaising with the Centre Manager, HR, and finance department for payroll purposes.
  • Maintaining HR records via the online system.

Other

  • Assisting with the smooth running of the centre as appropriate.

Education /Qualification 

  • Health & Safety Qualification

Skills and Experience

  • Health and Safety Qualification, Essential.
  • Previous experience in facilities/house management
  • Supervisory or management experience working with people to help them achieve company and personal goals.
  • An ability to manage relationships at a working level with key partners, clients, customers, suppliers and be an ambassador for Twin.
  • Ability to create knowledgeable people and teams and encourage a culture of learning, knowing, and sharing.
  • Understanding of buildings and grounds maintenance in a historic environment

Additional Information

Salary: £26,000 per annum 

Location: Eastbourne 

Contract:  Permanent - Full Time

Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:30
