Job Description

Student Engagement Officer works within the University Placements team to support, develop, and prepare engineering and science master students for their one-year industrial placement and future employment with cutting-edge employability skills.

As a student engagement officer, you will support the Student Engagement Manager and the University placement team in meeting their objectives in a timely and compliant manner.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the employability skills of international students through scheduling and conducting one-to-one meetings and interview preparation sessions.
  • Develop industry-standard CVs suitable for the UK market by individually engaging with each student.
  • To work with the Student Engagement Manager on the development of student learning materials and the delivery of workshops
  • To assess the students' abilities and requirements and based on that research about the roles, companies, and job search platforms.
  • Analyse a student’s communication skills, professionalism, and engagement with the programme.
  • Give students feedback on LinkedIn profiles and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Advise and give detailed and focused feedback on cover letters, placement options and requirements to the students.
  • Keep records of interactions with students, both in Excel and on the recruitment CRM.
  • Work with the Employer Engagement Officer to shortlist suitable candidates for open roles and to vet the roles and responsibilities submitted by the students.
  • Help plan joint university and Twin events and career fairs participation.
  • Engage with the university and wider team as necessary.

Education /Qualification 

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Information Advice and Guidance or Career advice experience

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including for non-native English speakers.
  • Able to work independently on own initiative
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work without supervision. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build a rapport with students quickly.
  • Attention to detail, able to work positively and proactively to resolve matters.
  • Experience in developing students’ employability skills
  • Experience in proofreading or copyediting is desirable.

Desirable

  • Ability to adapt to changing guidance or circumstances.
  • Experience working with international students, preferably at the university level.

Additional Information

Salary: £28,000.00 per annum 

Location: Greenwich/Hybrid 

Contract:  Permanent - Full-Time

Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:30
